Was Atari E.T. so terribile game that it was buried in New Mexico Desert?

The Atari E.T 2600 was one of the most expensive losses that the gaming industry ever faced. It costed around $310.5 million. After the launch of this game the developers faces negative responses from the consumers and a big demand of drawing there stocks back from market. In result there was 14 Truckes fully loaded were dumped in New Mexico Desert landfill and the news was kept secreat. But Microsoft took intrest in solving this mistery of why the game faces such a big loss and why did they dumped all the left stocks of there games into a landfill. So yesterday they found them all and confirmed that the myth's were not wrong and foung that Atari treasure. I don't think that the game was bad the thing is the game was launched in a wrong time and there marketing strategies were bad that is why game faced this crysis.........
