Is Gaming More Expensive Than It Used to Be?

Recently, I’ve realized that the price of games is quite controversial among gamers on the Internet. Some say that inflation has caused games to become cheaper over the years, while others have pointed to downloadable content as the reason for video games being more expensive.

What do other gamers think about it..?

I think it’s more expensive considering the sheer volume of games that are released today. Gone is the time of maybe 3-4 big releases per year; now, there’s an overcrowded market of AAA titles, plus fantastic indie games, and DLC.

By the time a big game comes out, we’re waiting on what comes out next week, rather than next year.

Yes, the profit margins are incredible, if they sell well.

On the other hand, if a product flops they could lose not only a humongous amount of money but also stock-holder confidence. Raising the prices is a bet in order to try and make sure you have enough insurance money and, of course, money to expand. The capitalism mindset is very real and very prevalent in the industry we all love, especially on the higher level. When the company reaches a certain level you also get more employees that don’t really care about gaming as much as they care about their career.

Gaming is on the forefront of those looking for a stable economy and successful career.

Game retailers are cheap bastards now. Why do you thing they charge ₹3000 for a PS3 Blu-ray and ₹4000 for a PS4 Blu-ray?

Now if we're talking about Graphics cards, it is an entirely different thing. DO you know why we can't have a GTX or an R9 card in 10k now? Bitcoins. That's why. These BTC miners just buy these cheap cards off in bulk and set up mining rigs, therefore driving up prices artificially. Lynch them, I say. Or boycott crypto-currencies.
